Not sure much of the info he had is still around though. Third person I don't think is doable or at least no one has yet to my knowledge.I played a lot of Halo back in the day and I immediately recognized the style of 1st person when on foot and 3rd person when in a vehicle. Sorry that it ruins your immersion. Maybe they will add the option. Some people want 3rd person over-the-shoulder view when on foot and fighting as well-- not liking first person view for any of the game.

It's the same reason people get "sea sick" and a 3rd person camera/perspective resolves this issue. It's not about immersion it's about accessibility for those that don't want to have to pop a Dramamine just to play a video game. Sadly not. I tried to mod it. There are quite a few bugs. The most common one was double swinging melee weapons, and endless reload loops on guns. Maybe with a mod. I haven't played in a while, and I don't remember there being a 3rd person option/setting or talk of adding one. I'm fine with 1st person….
