July 2023 edited July 2023. I have a 1" pipe line to a sidearm hot water heater and I bought a 1" Taco zone valve (Z100T2-3) to control flow to it. The valve BODY is 1", but internally the diameter reduces to 1/2". The same is true for a 3/4" Taco zone valve (Z075T2-3). I don't want this; I want the full flow rate 1" and 3/4" pipe provides. The system has a NTI Trinity boiler and 3 zones using Taco 571-2 zone valves connected to a Taco 4 zone control module. 3 of these failures were the power head. The small plastic 'switch lifter' melted loose and allowed the heater to run continiously till it burnt out. The other was a cracked bellows on the valve stem allowing water to leak.Heavy-cast brass body with sweat connectors. Bottom is made of beryllium copper helping for a virtually leak-proof operation. Globe valve design with a resilient seat for tight shut-off. Zone valve features its own thermostat. Quiet heat motor function that is not constantly energized while the valve is open. Note: Product may vary by store.I pointed out to him that he had seven taco heat motor zone valves being fed by one pump and one transformer.
