Make sure the collective up and down are mapped to Analogue in the controls, other two mappings have a hidden deadzone and not suitable for properly adjusting the collective. The standard controls are just clunky and really weird in my opinion. I mean, in real life even someone who has never flown a helicopter can fly one if he gets a 10min introduction from a flight instructor, and the controls in arma 3 are more complicated than in real life.
